  • Unsystematic intercropping in the coconut garden with 75 bearing and 35 juvenile coconut palms (var. West Coast Tall)

  Participated in training programmes on Coconut Based Farming Systems organised by CPCRI under COGENT/IPGRI Project on Poverty reduction

   Average yield of coconut : 80 nuts/palm/year (Against the State average of   40 nuts/palm/year)

 

    Tapioca cultivated as an intercrop between bearing palms

  • 0.2 ha 

  • Net profit Rs. 3,000/-

    Banana (var. Nendran) as an intercrop of juvenile palms

  • 0.1 ha (75 plants)

  • Yield: 10-12 kg/plant

  • Net profit Rs. 6,400/-

   Other intercrops raised: Cow pea; Bhendi

  • Additional income realized from intercropping : Rs.10,000 to 12,000 per year

     Backyard Poultry: 8-10 birds (Breed: Gramalakshmy) 

 

   Now showing active interest in various programmes organized by Research/Extension Agencies
