Main crop: Paddy; Jute; Vegetables; Arecanut and Coconut

Cultivation of arecanut and coconut as monocrop

No knowledge on nutrient management and insects and pests

Crown choking problem was noticed but no remedial measures were taken

Less yield and less income

CPCRI, Research Centre started a On farm Demonstration of High Density Multispecies Cropping System.

 

   
   
 

 

 

 

 

After boron application crown choking problem was solved

The farmer got the training on improved cultivation of plantation crops mainly arecanut and coconut.

Instead of Monocrop farmer is cultivating Arecanut, Black pepper, betel leaf, banana, acid lime, elephant foot yam, kacholam, turmeric,  ginger,  papaya.

He is having very good knowledge on nutrient and insects and disease management.

He has adopted vermin-composting by using arecanut and coconut leaf.

More yield and getting more return more than 2 times than earlier.

More over he is suggesting others to adopt the technology in existing arecanut and coconut garden.
